Lip Blush

Lip Blush is the new sensation to hit the SPMU world!

Using water based ink, the procedure consists of tattooing the lips on a low setting to flood the lip with a wash of colour. Although it won't change the shape of your lips the way filler will, it will leave them looking fuller, more defined and symmetrical and with an even blush of colour across the lips.
This treatment is perfect for anyone with unpigmented lips to give a desired colour, anyone who likes a strong lip colour or often wears a bright lipstick, or anyone who would like to even out their lip shape naturally without the use of filler.
With a rainbow spectrum of lip blush colours available, we can mix the perfect shade from a warm honey nude to a classic pillarbox red - any colour can be achieved - we can ever try and match it to your favourite lipstick! The first treatment will give a soft shaded-in  colour and more top-up treatments can be given to achieve the desired brightness and depth.

The Procedure + The Healing Process

On enquiry, we will have an online consultation to discuss the desired result and colour and then we will book you in for a patch test (Allergic reactions in lip blush are extremely uncommon however we take your comfort and safety as the upmost importance.)

On the day, we will reconfirm the colour and create a mix you are happy with - you will see this on your skin before we start. We will then map out the lip shape and then begin! Th procedure will take around 2-3hrs. The lips will be very pigmented immediately after however the colour does fade around 60-75% in the healing stage and this is why we would recommend additional top up sessions to achieve the desired colour.

Once finished, you will be given everything necessary to keep your lips hydrated and comfortable during the healing process.

As your lips heal, they will go through various stages - this is completely normal and to be expected! The initial healing takes around 7- 10 days however top ups will be able to take place 6+ weeks after the first treatment.

Day 1

Your lips are looking bright and full! You will have experienced some swelling as the treatment was taking place and they will be a bit tender. Depending on the swelling, sometimes they can look slightly asymmetrical and could also bruise a little but this is all normal.

Day 2/3

Your lips should be starting to reduce from the swelling through you may still experience some, they will likely feel more tender then yesterday and you may be now experiencing some dryness and chapping. You will have been given some ointment to apply to help with this but its very important to not pick at them (however tempting it is!)

Day 4/5

This is the "worst" part of the healing stage as they will feel very dry and start peeling. They may feel itchy as well but keep applying the ointment and try not to touch them as much as possible - this includes not rubbing your lips together.

Day 6-10

You will experience minor dryness, scabbing and some "colour-ghosting" The worst part of the healing is down so just be patient.
The full colour will come back and you will have a true reflection at 6 weeks - though the colour will be more natural from Day 1 - this would be when we would recommend booking back in for a top up.

NOTE:
If you’ve ever had cold sores, or herpes, you’ll need to take an antiviral medication before and after the treatment. The tattooing can cause a cold sore flare up, which can disrupt the lip tattoo healing process. If you are unsure then we would recommend consulting your GP.

Things to Do and Avoid during the Healing Process:

Try not to get your lips wet during the healing, try and drink through straws and don't allow hot drinks to touch them in the first few days.

Don’t touch, rub, or pick at your lips. Let them peel at their own pace. If you rip off the chapped skin, you can pull out the pigments and your lips will heal patchy.

Do not use any products on the lips apart from the ointment given for at least 10 days

Don't eat any spicy food - this can hurt your lips whilst they are feeling sensitive

Don't drink any alcohol or smoke for the first couple of days

Do not do any kissing for the first 7-10 days to minimise the risk of infection
